Not much has gone on this weekend in the lives of Shawn and Jodi thus no blogging, sorry Penny. We spent the weekend watching The Office. Yes, I said “we.” I caught the last few episodes of season 2 when Pam and Jim were having feelings for each other and I HAD to watch the next season. When I say HAD I mean I asked Shawn to rent season 3 which he did. We watched all of season 3 and it ended with Jim asking Pam out on a date after dating Karen for months…what? I didn’t realize that this show has a love story to it! So…I HAD to watch season 4. So…we got it and we fell asleep watching it last night. I have to admit that there many times I find myself LOL as much as it hurts to admit that. But, when Michael Scott (the boss) gets on his long winded mindless brain numbing speeches I tend to find a reason to stop watching.
On a more serious note, I have been reading the local news down here since we moved and unlike Lubbock, there is a lot of news about current issues that the Senate and the House are debating. Today, I read the headline “House to take up Voter ID issue.” I read about this a month ago and this is what it boils down to: The Republicans are pushing for a mandate that will require Voters to present a picture ID when voting. I’m sorry, did I hear that right? This is debatable? There are requirements to become a registered voter and unfortunately not everyone in this county qualifies to vote. One, a person must register to vote and in this country and not everyone that qualifies has the energy to drive downtown and make the time to become a registered voter. Second, I am only allowed ONE vote. Only One. I want my vote to come from Me. I know…crazy thought. Thirdly, I must show my ID to purchase cigarettes, beer, to pay by check or credit card but I am not required to prove my identify when I vote in any type of election? My two questions are this…Why the hell did it take this long for this to become an issue and What’s the problem in getting it passed?
